1What “used unless you opt out” means here

An opt-out sets the default to training. Until the setting is changed, uploads count as training material, and changing it later does not reach back to what was already used.

3Why it matters for a book

For an unpublished manuscript or a script under option, this is the clause most likely to matter. Text that has helped train a model cannot be taken back out of it, and deleting the project afterwards does not change that.
