What decides whether a book can be adapted

Training use: uploads as model training data

Training use means content users upload may be used to train or improve the models that power a tool. As of 2026-09-25.

Fig. 1 Each reading keeps the quote it was taken from.

Runway's terms say inputs and outputs may be used to train and improve its models. Higgsfield's say the same of content, inputs and outputs, with enterprise customers excepted. Topview uses content by default unless the user opts out.

invideo's terms go the other way and state that user data will not be used to train or fine-tune its models.

Training use is hard to undo. Deleting a file removes it from the account, not from what a model has already learned.

For writers with unpublished work, this clause decides whether an AI tool is a place to try an idea at all.

2The adaptation step in practice

Once the rights in “Training use” are settled, SceneMixer describes the adaptation itself like this:

SceneMixer turns a novel into a watchable short-drama series in one pipeline: upload the novel (Chinese or English) → AI extracts characters, scenes, and an episode-by-episode structure → generates consistent character and scene art → writes storyboard scripts → renders video segment by segment (16:9 by default, 9:16 in one setting) → composites full episodes.

Voices and ambience are in the clip, and in the composited episode, with the episode’s score unless you turned the Music switch off.
