Uploading a book to Luma or Topview
Luma's and Topview's terms read differently on all six upload clauses: rights warranties, licences, training use, infringement handling, visibility and deletion. As of 2026-09-25.
| Clause | Luma | Topview |
|---|---|---|
| Rights you promise to hold | You warrant you hold the rights | You are responsible for your content |
| Licence you grant the tool | Broad, including improvement | Limited and non-transferable |
| Uploads used for training | Used during paid use | Used unless you opt out |
| Handling of infringement | A notice-and-takedown route | Infringing uploads prohibited |
| Whether uploads go public | Not stated in the terms read | Public only if you share it |
| What deletion does | Kept only within plan or storage limits | Kept for a set period, then deleted |
Inclusion rule. The six clauses every tool on the register is read for. Order. The order clauses take on every tool page.
1Where the terms differ
Topview's terms cover visibility, where Luma's terms read are silent. On rights warranties, Luma reads “you warrant you hold the rights” and Topview reads “you are responsible for your content”. On licences, Luma reads “broad, including improvement” and Topview reads “limited and non-transferable”. On training use, Luma reads “used during paid use” and Topview reads “used unless you opt out”. On infringement handling, Luma reads “a notice-and-takedown route” and Topview reads “infringing uploads prohibited”. On deletion, Luma reads “kept only within plan or storage limits” and Topview reads “kept for a set period, then deleted”.
Which set suits a project depends on the book: an out-of-copyright classic asks different questions from an unpublished manuscript.
