Sublicensable: permission that can be passed on

A sublicensable licence lets the holder grant parts of the same permission to others, such as partners, contractors or model providers. As of 2026-09-25.

Runway's licence to inputs and outputs is transferable and sublicensable. Luma's licence over paid input can be sublicensed through multiple tiers. OpenArt's is sublicensable and transferable, and PopShort's covers operating, improving and promoting the service.

Sublicensing is common in cloud services, where storage, processing and moderation run on other companies' systems. Topview's limits it to service providers acting for it.

For a manuscript, a sublicensable licence means the circle of companies that may handle the text is set by the tool, not the author.

The terms read do not list the sublicensees.

2The adaptation step in practice

Once the rights in “Sublicensable” are settled, SceneMixer describes the adaptation itself like this:

A script longer than about 10,000 characters (counted as Chinese-equivalent characters) is read in two passes: first the cast, sets and props, then the episode list with a short outline per episode.

SceneMixer separates the script language from the production language: the output (episode outlines, storyboards, on-screen text) follows your interface language, and target-region localization adapts character names, casting, and scenery for Western, East Asian, Southeast Asian, or Latin American audiences.
