Share-alike licences on public-domain texts
A share-alike licence lets anyone reuse and change a work on condition that what they make is released under the same licence. As of 2026-09-25.
Wikisource releases user contributions under CC BY-SA 4.0 and the GFDL, both share-alike licences.
What those licences cover is the volunteers' work: transcription, formatting, notes. The hosted works themselves must be free to use for any purpose, including commercial use.
For an adaptation, the story is the public-domain part. A script that copies Wikisource's annotations or added material, rather than the author's text, brings the share-alike condition with it.
Attribution is the other condition: the BY in CC BY-SA.
Standard Ebooks and Project Gutenberg take different routes to the same end, which is why the same novel can arrive from three libraries carrying three sets of conditions on the file.
The GFDL, the older licence also named, comes from software documentation and asks for the licence text to travel with copies, which suits reference pages better than film.

2The adaptation step in practice
Once the rights in “Share-alike” are settled, SceneMixer describes the adaptation itself like this:
Doubao Seed 2.1 Turbo is the tier every account uses for text work until you change it: it reads the script, writes with AI when you ask, and generates each episode’s storyboard, at 50% of the base text rate.

The same face across an entire series is the design target and what the reference-sheet architecture delivers for the cast in your asset library.
