Life plus 70: the usual term for a book
Life plus 70 is shorthand for a copyright term that lasts for the author's lifetime and then 70 years after the author dies. As of 2026-09-25.
All six jurisdictions read use it as the general term for books: the United Kingdom, the European Union, Japan, Canada, Australia, and the United States for works created from 1978.
The counting differs at the edges. Canada adds the rest of the calendar year in which the author died and then runs 70 years; the EU directive says the term runs regardless of when the work was first made public.
Because the clock starts at a death, a book's publication date says little on its own. The question to ask is when its author died, and for books with several authors, when the last of them did.
Translations and illustrations can have authors of their own, with clocks of their own.

2The adaptation step in practice
Once the rights in “Life plus 70” are settled, SceneMixer describes the adaptation itself like this:
Doubao Seed 2.1 Turbo is the tier every account uses for text work until you change it: it reads the script, writes with AI when you ask, and generates each episode’s storyboard, at 50% of the base text rate.
