Luma and Runway: terms for uploaded books

Luma's and Runway's terms read differently on five of the six upload clauses: licences, training use, infringement handling, visibility and deletion. As of 2026-09-25.

1Where the terms differ

Luma's terms cover deletion, where Runway's terms read are silent. Runway's terms cover visibility, where Luma's terms read are silent. On rights warranties the two agree: you warrant you hold the rights. On licences, Luma reads “broad, including improvement” and Runway reads “perpetual and transferable”. On training use, Luma reads “used during paid use” and Runway reads “may be used for training”. On infringement handling, Luma reads “a notice-and-takedown route” and Runway reads “infringing uploads prohibited”.

For a public-domain text, the warranty is easier to give; the licence and training rows still decide what the tool may keep.
